Company History
Advancing sleep medicine, improving lives.
“Innovation, adaptability and vision to achieve better health for patients”
International Institute of Sleep (IIS) has been a pioneer in providing high-quality sleep disorder diagnostics since it was founded in 1999. By combining innovation, adaptability, and vision to achieve better health for patients, IIS has also successfully assisted industries affected by the health and safety issues associated with sleep disorders.
IIS’s foundation is solidly built on the care of patients. By considering their needs, IIS has found the solutions necessary to ensure proper treatment. This includes a comprehensive disease management program that provides continual and prompt guidance and treatment compliance.
Always at the vanguard of evaluation and improvement, IIS has set the standard for advances in the sleep medicine industry:
Shortly after reinventing traditional sleep lab models, IIS successfully entered the HME market offering equipment and services to treat patients already diagnosed with sleep disorders.
In 2007, IIS developed a formal sleep school providing valuable occupational training and access to qualified sleep professionals. The sleep school’s physician training components and webinars have increased disease awareness and advocacy.
In 2008, IIS responded to the phenomenal growth and outstanding demand through the careful development and implementation of remotely attended sleep studies (RASS) and home sleep testing (HSTs).
In 2009, IIS developed and implemented a ground-breaking Sleep Health and Case Management program whose models and continuum of care initiatives have attracted interest in IIS from national health insurance companies as well as groups involved in industrial and occupational medicine.
IIS is now able to launch all product lines nationally and is in talks to include an IIS-designed sleep disorders program in national health care reform programs.
IIS has consistently demonstrated exemplary patient outcomes and has received high acclaim from organizations such as The Joint Commission (JCAHO), State Agencies for Health Care Administration and CMS (Medicare).
“IIS has earned and maintained dual accreditation by The Joint Commission: for Ambulatory Care Clinics and Home Care where a perfect score was awarded; and was invited to serve on The Joint Commission’s National Advisory Board.”
IIS has earned and maintained dual accreditation by The Joint Commission: for Ambulatory Care Clinics and Home Care where a perfect score was awarded; and was invited to serve on The Joint Commission’s National Advisory Board. IIS’s practice standards are one of a kind and have earned them national recognition.
IIS has more than ten years of state licensure experience without deficiencies; the company has been awarded additional license endorsements exclusively obtained to legally perform remote attended sleep studies and HSTs in patients’ homes, and an IIS-designed Fraud and Abuse prevention task force is under review by CMS and the OIG.
“Overall patient satisfaction rates average 99.7%, which exceeds all healthcare benchmarks nationally.”
Perhaps the most important credential that IIS has to offer is this: overall patient satisfaction rates average 99.7%, which exceeds all healthcare benchmarks nationally. That translates to many thousands of people whose lives may have been saved, who have improved health, and are leading better and more productive lives because they are sleeping at night.
Glenn Becker President/CEO
Glenn Becker founded the International Institute of Sleep in 1999 when he realized the prevalence and seriousness of sleep disorders. Since then, he has been at the forefront of the ever-growing sleep disorders field, introducing innovative testing, training plus treatment.
By focusing on patient care, Glenn has built the largest, most comprehensive sleep-related healthcare company in the industry. Rather than just testing and diagnosing patients then sending them on their way, Glenn has established a disease management continuum of support that never stops working with patients. This includes diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, on-going physician communication, supplies and continuous efforts to ensure compliance.
Along with some of the top healthcare executives in the nation, Glenn serves on the advisory board of The Joint Commission, the organization which holds the highest standard for health care accreditation in the country. His efforts at innovation and have brought IIS significant recognition as the industry leader, with insurance companies turning to Glenn to understand how their customers fare so well with IIS, as opposed to any other sleep disorder company.
